Important Tips By Angel Investors

What to develop? What to keep at a business pitch? how to maintain a balanced life?
The following are some meaningful Q&A with Erez Pilosof one the founders of Walla (Israeli web portal ) and Yair Goldfinger one of the founders of ICQ (Mirabilis).

How do you know what to develop?

"Develop what you love. The Founder of Ferrari said: 'I build cars myself, if people like them, it's a bonus'."

How do you balance the entrepreneurial life?

"You have to work hard and find your true soul mate".

For a conclusion, what tips can you share with us for a Successful Business Pitch?

"You better come up with a working prototype or Mockup (Model)".

Where to look: in Israel, Europe, United States, Asia?

Not in Israel. It's a small meaningless market. Select a Large and significant market.

How do you know what to develop?

If you are developing a product for consumers, do it with as many friends, and preferably not just those from your home land. If it is for companies do it with potential customers.

How to choose a partner?

Choose people you know and trust. Beware from those you just met. Better with the second or third best friend.

From whom do you take the initial funding?

"In today's reality, simply the one who like to give. Make sure you give special priority to professional angels".

How to register a patent?

"Write the name of the entrepreneurs in the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty). It important to do it in the very beginning, to get a Priority".

For a conclusion, what tips can you share with us for a Successful Business Pitch?

"Short and cut the bullshit. emphasis the problem, market size, solution, why should it be you, marketing channels, funding and competition".

MOMA - Google intranet

MOMA - Google intranet or Back to Business Post

I must begin this post with some words of amazement. This was my reaction when I opened my Google AdSense & Blogger Account:

"This Blog alone got 3400 page views! Great!
I got 50 Blogs on Blogger with a total of 57,942 Page views! Even Greater!" - Alon Ben Levy

So my Blogger/Googler/Google friends, I'm glad to say that i'm back to business! I will upload some more new posts that I'm working on this following week. Meanwhile feast your eyes on this 5 year old post I found. I hope you will like it! stay tuned! (:

An old but great article written by Doug an Ex-Googler:

"MOMA, Google's intranet, was designed by and for engineers and for the first couple of years, its home page was devoid of any aesthetic enhancements that didn't serve to provide information essential to the operation of Google. It was dense and messy and full of numbers that were hard to parse for the uninitiated, but high in nutritional value for the data hungry.

MOMA displayed latency times, popular search terms, traffic stats for Google-owned properties and, at the center of it all, a large graph with colored lines labeled with the names of Muppet characters. I can't reveal what that graph represented, but if Rizzo or Fozzie started closing the gap with the Great Gonzo, Oscar would not be the only grouch on Sesame Street. (...)

As the company grew, the most useful aspect of MOMA for me was the phone list, which contained the title, email address, IM name, photo, extension and location of everyone on the payroll. The individual's name would be linked to a list of his or her quarterly goals and objectives, so you could understand exactly where your proposed project was likely to fit in their priority list before you even spoke with them.

I came to take it for granted that any information I needed about Google could be found on the intranet, from the status of products in development to the number of employees at any point in the company's history. Ironically, the lack of decent search capability would make some things hard to find in the early days, though Google finally hooked up one of its own search appliances to fix that problem." (December 14, 2005)

Google Important Top Rankings Ingredients

Here are three of the most important top rankings ingredients that you need to concentrate on to go up in the ranking ladder:

1) Keyword Relevant Copy and Content.

Whatever the keywords you want to get ranked in the Search Engine Results Pages, be sure that you have enough content about those specific words which will give Google a reason to rank you in the first place. If for example, one of your priority keywords is "free software", create a separate page or section for this keyword (at least a few paragraphs) using the keyword in the headline, the first sentence, the last sentence as well as wherever it makes logical sense in order to achieve the keyword frequency and "density" that search engines are looking for. Ideally, each page will only have one or two keywords and will be very focused on that specific topic. Additionally, by including on this specific keyword page either articles, PDF\DOC files or news items about your keyword, it will help you improve your chances of a better ranking. Give Google a reason to rank you at the top.

2) The Read and "Crawl".

Probably the biggest surprise to most marketers is that the search engines are unable to either navigate or read most of the content on their website. If they can't read your copy, then it's not surprising that you're not getting the rankings or traffic to your website that you aspire to.
The only thing a search engine can read is words. Sites that are dynamic, or created in other formats such as Flash or Java often can't be read by the search engines! many times they can't navigate it properly or just bounce "off the walls" as there are no specific links or site map to tell the proper sequence or where to go next.

Notice: to see what Google is indexing on your website? Go to Google and type in: site:www.yourdomain.com . This will show you the title and description of the pages of your site they know about. If they are all the same or they don't have a title or description listed, chances are very good that your site is invisible to your target market.

3) Why Links are So Important.

Link popularity is one of the most important factors search engines use in determining where you will rank in the search engine for your keywords and phrases, as it helps them to determine how important or popular your site is and what it's reputation is. Link Building is the process of finding related/relevant websites and receiving a link from them to you. Natural linking occurs when a site has good content that others will link to. But to get these links people have to know about you. It is a "catch 22". Building links has gotten sophisticated in the last couple of years. Today you need a mixture of links from many sources including articles, press releases, social bookmarks, directories and social media sites.
How many links do you need to have? It depends on the individual keyword or phrase you want to be found under and how the links are structured. The search engines look at inbound links as a popularity contest but more importantly, they are looking at the quality of the pages that are linking to you and the "anchor text" - the "clickable link" and what it says about the page that it links to. The key to linking is to have the right anchor text on a link that points to a page that has content using the same keyword phrase.
You do not want to boost the overall number of links by more than 10-15% each month for an established site with history because this may trigger a filter from the search engines as an indicator of artificially inflated link popularity. New sites have an advantage since there has not been a history established and the link building can be done at a faster rate. Linking is critical not only with your search engine placement, but also because it helps stabilize you positions in the search engines and delivers traffic directly from the sites that link to you. But linking is not a once and you are done process. Generating new links is an ongoing process.

Goobuntu : Google OS VS Microsoft OS?

Sometimes rumors becomes reality!
Google is taking on Microsoft in its core business - desktop software.
A version of the increasingly popular Ubuntu desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian and the Gnome desktop, it is known internally as "Goobuntu".
Google has confirmed it is working on a desktop Linux project called Goobuntu, but declined to supply further details, including what the project is for.
It could be for wider deployments on the company's own desktops, as an alternative to Microsoft, but unfortunately still for internal use only.
According to some experts it's possible Google plans to distribute it to the general public, as a free alternative to Windows.
Entering the desktop software world would be a huge step. Making Goobuntu as easy to use as Vista will require a lot more development. It's unlikely to be ready for lunch any time soon, and it's possible Google itself hasn't finalized where the project should go.
Whatever Google's intentions, the input of Google engineers and developers, writing new features and fixing bugs, will be a huge boost to the Ubuntu project.
Canonical Ubuntu has built considerable momentum in the Linux community, and is starting to appear more widely. Shuttleworth is seeking to persuade white-box PC manufacturers to start shipping machines with Ubuntu preinstalled.
It is top of the Distrowatch download chart, is installed on up to six million computers, and doubling every eight months, according to estimates from Shuttleworth's company, Canonical.
It has spawned a number of different offshoots, including Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Edubuntu (for schools).
In my opinion the name Goobuntu will defiantly change like the Microsoft's "Longhorn" case.
For now we can seat and wait for the battle to begin...

The amazing part is that the first result for the term Goggles in Google is this site: "Goggles: the Google Maps flight simulator"!

New Way Of Interview - Massage Interview?

Could Google Be more different then other companies?

Well according to Reza Behforooz, Massage Expert and Software Engineer (Massage Expert & Software Engineer?! realy??):

"Life at the Googleplex is often full of fun surprises. One day, I was asked if I could do a massage interview. I was already a big fan of our massage program, and I was familiar with doing interviews at Google, but I didn't know about massage interviews. Regardless, it sounded Googley, and I decided to help.Getting a massage at work is a favorite perk among Googlers. As with anyone we hire, our massage therapists have to go through an interview process...but the actual interviews are a little unique. We ask the therapists to do what they do best give massages. And as Googlers, it is our duty to help with the hard task of receiving table or chair massages as part of the interviews. Though we do have to write detailed feedback about the massage, just like any other interview, in this interview, all I had to do was close my eyes and relax. Who knew interviewing could be so easy!"

Could work be more fan then this? you tell me!
